Courtesy visit to the National Institute of Justice by HE Fred Duijn, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Moldova
On Monday, April 14, 2025, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Moldova, Fred Duijn, paid a courtesy visit to the National Institute of Justice. His Excellency was received by the Director of the National Institute of Justice, Ramona Strugariu.
During the meeting, essential aspects were addressed about the role of the National Institute of Justice in strengthening the justice sector, about the ways of delivering training in sensitive areas for the judicial system, such as the integrity and education of a new anti-corruption culture, as well as about the importance of taking over the good practices and successful models of the European magistracy schools in order to continuously improve the professional training process.
The recommendation of the TAIEX 2022 mission that the National Institute of Justice become the only gateway to the career of judge and prosecutor was also discussed, thus guaranteeing a rigorous and predictable selection process. At the same time, it was emphasized that the Institute should become a platform that brings together legal practitioners for constructive debates regarding the unification of judicial practice, including in accordance with the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights and the Court of Justice of the European Union.
The visit represented an opportunity for cooperation between the National Institute of Justice and European partners, in order to achieve the common objectives of ensuring an independent, professional and integral judicial system in the context of our country's accession to the European Union.
The meeting was also attended by Ecaterina Popa, head of the Training and Research Directorate within the National Institute of Justice, and Elena Cristian, senior legal analyst from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
