Free ERA training for judges, prosecutors, lawyers and prison staff on "Framework Decision 909: Custodial sentences or measures involving deprivation of liberty"

The National Institute of Justice informs about the opportunity to participate in the webinar organized by the European Law Academy (ERA) dedicated Framework Decision 909: Custodial sentences or measures involving deprivation of liberty".

Training program, addressed judges, prosecutors, lawyers și staff from the penitentiary system, will take place online, on the Zoom platform, in english language, on the date of March 25, 2026.

The webinar is part of a series of five events co-financed by the European Union and will analyze the provisions of the Framework Decision, as well as the roles and responsibilities of the actors involved (judges, prosecutors, lawyers, competent authorities) in the issuing and enforcing Member States.

Main topics:

  • The provisions of the Framework Decision 2008/909/JAI;
  • The role and responsibilities of judges and lawyers in the procedure for issuing and executing custodial sentences;
  • The activity of the designated competent authorities and the correct completion of the certificate required for the transfer.

Conditions of participation:

  • Participation is free.
  • Registration is done individually, directly by the participants.
  • Participants will be asked to consent to the storage of data in the ERA database for informational purposes (future events, publications, etc.).
  • A certificate of participation will be issued to those who will attend the entire duration of the webinar.

Interested persons are requested to complete the online registration form up to March 24, 2026.
