The National Institute of Justice at the celebration of 25 years of the European Judicial Training Network

The management of the National Institute of Justice - Ramona Strugariu, director, and Ghennadi Epure, deputy director - participated in the Conference of Directors of the European Judicial Training Network (EJTN), held on October 14-15, 2025, in Bordeaux, France.

The event, with the generic title "25 years of European judicial training in the service of the rule of law: EJTN in the face of new challenges", was hosted by the National School of Magistracy (ENM) in France and brought together directors and representatives of judicial training institutions from member states and partners. In Bordeaux, the INJ management started the steps to sign a bilateral collaboration protocol with ENM and had elaborate discussions for accessing funding through European projects with other schools or with the European Judicial Training Network.

The works of the anniversary conference focused on the analysis of the evolution of European judicial training, its contribution to the consolidation of the rule of law, as well as the identification of strategic solutions adapted to contemporary challenges.

As a speaker in the panel "What future for judicial training?", director Ramona Strugariu reflected on the role of associate members and observers, emphasizing the ways in which EJTN can provide increased support to observer members - as is the case with the National Institute of Justice - for better integration in training activities. Aspects regarding the future European judicial training strategy and the exchange of experience to identify concrete cooperation needs were also discussed.

During the two days, the conference agenda included plenary sessions and thematic workshops dedicated to current topics. The debates focused on the European Commission's rule of law policy, including preventive and reactive tools, digital transformation, the impact of artificial intelligence on justice and the need for a judicial culture based on digital awareness. EJTN's contribution to the coordination of judicial training at the European level was also addressed, in the context of the European Commission's call for the Network to assume a central role in aligning training efforts in the field of European Union law, in order to increase efficiency and reduce discrepancies between member states.

We mention that, from July 1, 2016, the Republic of Moldova, through the National Institute of Justice, holds the status of an observer member of the European Judicial Training Network of magistracy schools in the member states of the European Union, with the entry into force of the Association Agreement of our country with the European Union.
