The director of the INJ had a meeting with the project manager of the CoE, Monica Martinez

On the afternoon of Thursday, October 23, 2025, the director of the National Institute of Justice, Ramona Strugariu, received the new project manager of the Council of Europe "Support for the reform of justice in the Republic of Moldova", Monica Martinez. The visit, the first of its kind at the Institute, was aimed at establishing professional relations and discussing collaboration perspectives.

During the meeting, the constant support of the Council of Europe for the activity of the National Institute of Justice was reconfirmed. The dialogue focused on opportunities for cooperation in the field of initial and continuous training of judges and prosecutors, through programs aligned with the roadmap for the rule of law and the priorities related to the accession process of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union.

A distinct topic was the stage of implementation of the recommendations formulated by the TAIEX mission, most of which have already been implemented. The leadership of the INJ emphasized the need for some essential legislative adjustments, including the recognition of the Institute as the only gateway to the professions of judge and prosecutor, ensuring the predictability of jobs for graduates and revising the duration of the training program for the INJ audience, in line with the standards of European magistracy schools.

Also, the current collaboration regarding the organization of training in the field of European Union law, the process of creating the institutional development strategy and the results of the recently held workshop, to define the strategic and operational objectives according to the values, mission and vision of the INJ, were reviewed. During the discussions, the support that will be given by the Council of Europe in the development of the communication strategy of the National Institute of Justice was also mentioned.

The meeting was also attended by Ecaterina Popa, head of the Training and Research Directorate, INJ, Alina Terentii, senior project coordinator, and Ana Ciobanu, project assistant.
