OECD representatives visiting the National Institute of Justice
On Tuesday, November 26, 2024, experts from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) paid a visit to the National Institute of Justice. The delegation, formed by Monica Castillejos-Aragon, Pelagia Patsoule, Francesco Alfonso and Clara Le Cannellier, met with the representatives of the National Institute of Justice - Adrian Cerbu, Interim Director, Ecaterina Popa, Head of the Training and Research Directorate, and Tatiana Ciaglic, Head of the Legal Information Center.
The discussions focused on essential aspects of the processes of initial training of the audience and continuous training of judges and prosecutors in office. Thus, the experts showed a special interest in the content and structure of the study plans, as well as in the ways of providing training in sensitive areas for the judicial system: professional ethics and deontology, integrity, anti-corruption, etc.
Topics were also addressed regarding the usefulness of organizing training sessions and thematic schools that would contribute to the development of the specialized skills of the Institute's beneficiaries.
Experts from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development are in Chisinau this week to assess the current state of the justice sector in several meetings with the relevant public authorities. The mission, an integral part of the project "Supporting reforms in the justice sector in the Republic of Moldova", co-financed by the European Union and implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice, aims to provide a clear picture of how the judicial system contributes to strengthening democracy and ensuring respect for the rule of law.
