#Moldova without Violence #NO APOLOGIES for digital violence: INJ is also joining this year the national campaign "16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence"

The end of November marks, at an international level, the period when attention is directed to the prevention of gender-based violence. The National Institute of Justice is also joining the "16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence" campaign this year. As a sign of solidarity, the INJ audience today decorated the fir trees in the courtyard of the institution with orange ribbons – a symbolic gesture that reminds of the importance of empathy, respect, responsibility and support given to those affected by violence.

The campaign, launched annually on November 25, focuses this year on digital violence, a form of abuse that is increasingly present in the online environment. Globally, data shows that 85% of women have witnessed or been victims of such situations. Under the slogan #NOEXCUSES for digital violence, the initiative promotes the creation of a safe and respectful space, both online and offline.

The involvement of the National Institute of Justice is also reflected by the participation of the institution's leadership in the national march organized in Chisinau, Balti and Cahul, together with representatives of public authorities, international organizations, civil society and citizens. At the same time, several awareness-raising actions aimed at increasing awareness of digital violence and its consequences will be carried out within the campaign.

For the consolidation of professional skills, the beneficiaries of the Institute they have access to two electronic courses of the HELP platform of the Council of Europe: "Women's access to justice" and "Violence against women and domestic violence". The campaign will end with a simulation of a criminal trial, in which the audience of the National Institute of Justice, together with students of the State University of Moldova, of the Police Academy "Ștefan cel Mare" and of the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts, will apply the knowledge acquired in the management of cases of domestic violence and sexual abuse.

Initiated in 1991 by the Women's Global Leadership Institute, the 16 Days of Activism campaign remains a call to action to prevent violence against women and promote gender equality. The National Institute of Justice continues to support this cause through symbolic gestures, education and professional training.
