Members of the Association of Law Students in Europe, visiting the National Institute of Justice

In the afternoon of today, April 24, 2024, the National Institute of Justice was visited by students and master's students of the Faculty of Law from the State University of Moldova, who are also members of the European Law Students Association (ELSA).

The young people were welcomed by the Interim Director of the INJ, Adrian Cerbu, who initiated discussions regarding the Institute's activity on the four dimensions: initial training, continuous training, trainer training and elearning. He encouraged them to take part in the entrance exam to the initial training courses to become judges and prosecutors. The students were curious to learn about the recent legislative changes regarding the National Institute of Justice, especially at the admission stage, about the differentiated training of candidates for the positions of judge and prosecutor, about the employment rate of INJ graduates by the Superior Council of Magistrates and the Superior Council of Prosecutors, etc.

ELSA members also learned about the conditions and stages of the deployment INJ admissions, as well as about the Institute's initial training course in the promotional materials and video. The young people also had the opportunity to interact with the graduates of the National Institute of Justice - Livia Mitrofan, Interim President of the Chisinau Municipal Court, Octavian Bivol, Prosecutor at the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor's Office, Center Office, Olga Marandici, candidate for the position of judge, Tatiana Brumă, candidate for the position of judge, and Doina-Cezara Galan, candidate for the position of prosecutor, who shared their experience own regarding the training period at INJ and their professional career.

At the end, the visitors went to the most representative study rooms on the premises of the Institute: the computer room and the one for simulating court processes.

The National Institute of Justice is the only judicial training institution in the country that prepares future judges and prosecutors. The initial training lasts 18 months and is carried out in three semesters: semester I – training of professional skills specific to the criminal investigation phase (candidates for the position of prosecutor)/training of professional skills for the examination of civil cases on the merits (candidates for the position of judge); semester II – training of prejudicial professional skills/training of professional skills for the examination of criminal cases on the merits through trial simulations on concrete categories of criminal cases; semester III – internship in the courts, prosecutor's office and criminal investigation bodies. During all this time, the audience receives a monthly scholarship in the size of an average salary in the economy.
