Meeting with representatives of UN Women Moldova
On Wednesday, July 31, 2024, the National Institute of Justice was visited by the Deputy Representative of UN Women Moldova, Svetlana Andries, and the project officer, Iulia Gheorghies, to hold talks with the Interim Director of INJ, Adrian Cerbu, and the head of the Training and Research Directorate, Ecaterina Popa.
During the meeting, the regional project "Enhancing women's leadership for resilient and peaceful societies" was presented, which aims at multiple aspects of gender equality and which will be implemented by UN Women Moldova and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, in the period 2024-2027.
The discussions evolved towards the identification of potential training activities aimed at INJ beneficiaries, especially in the segment of preventing and combating sexual harassment at work. Thus, various possibilities for achieving the common objectives were outlined, by organizing mixed trainings, to ensure a thorough understanding of the respective topic by professionals in the legal sector and by conducting an anonymous survey, to assess the extent of the phenomenon and to establish effective methods of intervention. It was also mentioned the usefulness of creating informative and didactic materials in order to prevent cases of sexual harassment (e-capsule, documentary spots, leaflets, etc.), as well as organizing debates for the audiences of the National Institute of Justice with the aim of raising awareness of future judges and prosecutors regarding the given issue and to encourage the exchange of ideas in this field.
Towards the end of the meeting, it was agreed on the need for further discussions to develop a concrete action plan and detail the practical aspects of implementing the proposed actions.
