Bilateral meeting between the Director of the National Institute of Justice and the Country Representative of UN Women Moldova
Today, March 27, 2025, the Director of the National Institute of Justice, Ramona Strugariu, had a meeting with the Country Representative of UN Women Moldova, Dominika Stojanoska, during which issues regarding the existing partnership and the development of collaboration in areas of mutual interest were addressed.
The director of INJ emphasized the institution's commitment to a policy of zero tolerance for harassment and discrimination, placing particular emphasis on the importance of the psychological component, education and gender balance, as models to follow, in professional training. Also, Ramona Strugariu thanked for the elaboration Policies to prevent and investigate acts of discrimination, harassment and sexual harassment within the National Institute of Justice, which is to be finalized and which is part of the regional project "Enhancing women's leadership for resilient and peaceful societies", implemented by UN Women Moldova and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.
During the discussions, the perspective of expanding the given mechanism was mentioned, exploring the possibility of its application not only at the National Institute of Justice, but also at the level of courts and prosecutors' offices. In addition, it was agreed to deepen cooperation, especially in the segment of continuous training of INJ beneficiaries, including with a view to breaking stereotypes and increasing the degree of empathy among representatives of the legal sector, as well as using the results of the study Situational analysis of access to justice for women victims of violence and other underrepresented groups for the adaptation of existing training programs. Women's access to justice was an important topic of discussion that highlighted the urgent need to remove both social and institutional barriers that can limit fundamental rights.
In the end, the parties showed their solidarity in promoting high standards of professional ethics, respect and gender equality in the justice system.
