The National Institute of Justice joins, again this year, the international campaign 16 days of activism against gender violence

In the spirit of commitment to promoting gender equality and combating all forms of violence, the National Institute of Justice joins the international campaign in 2024 as well 16 days of activism against gender violence.

Under the slogan "Towards Beijing +30: UNiTE to End Violence Against Women and Girls", this year's campaign is due to the three-decade anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action - a key document that outlined the fundamental directions for supporting gender equality and preventing violence against women worldwide.

During this period, the National Institute of Justice predicted several actions to raise awareness of this problem and promote effective solutions. In this sense, the candidates for the positions of judges and prosecutors symbolically decorated the trees in the yard with orange ribbons, an initiative that emphasizes solidarity with the victims of abuse and the imperative of a future without violence.

"Preparing future judges and prosecutors does not only mean professional training, but also cultivating a deep responsibility and vision towards fundamental human rights and respect for the dignity of each person. Through the actions carried out today, we reaffirm that justice, equality and the protection of the vulnerable are essential for a healthy society. Together we can put an end to this phenomenon and, through involvement and justice, we build a world where violence no longer finds its place", he emphasized, on behalf of to the audience, Dan Furculita, candidate for the position of prosecutor.

Among the planned activities are also training programs dedicated to deepening knowledge on the different forms of aggression and the legal mechanisms to combat them, in which judges, prosecutors, legal assistants, clerks and prosecutors' consultants will participate. The audience of the National Institute of Justice, together with students from the State University of Moldova, from the "Ștefan cel Mare" Police Academy and from the Academy of Music, Theater and Visual Arts, will simulate a criminal trial aimed at developing professional skills in dealing with cases of family violence and sexual abuse of children. In parallel, INJ beneficiaries were given access to two e-courses provided on the HELP platform of the Council of Europe and adapted to the domestic legal order: "Women's access to justice" and "Violence against women and domestic violence".

The "16 days of activism against gender-based violence" campaign was initiated by Women's Global Leadership Institute in 1991 and is a call to action to eradicate violence against women and promote gender equality.
