The National Institute of Justice, in dialogue with international experts regarding recommendations to improve training processes

On the afternoon of Wednesday, October 30, 2024, there were consultations, via online, of the representatives of the National Institute of Justice with the experts of the Council of Europe who, following the assessment mission this summer, developed two draft reports on the training processes of the INJ.

The reports on the assessment of the initial training of candidates for the positions of judge and prosecutor and on the continuing training of judges and prosecutors were carried out by the international consultants of the Council of Europe - Francesco Perrone, judge of the Court of Padua, Italy, and Marina Naumovska Milevska, specialist in judicial training.

The meeting participants closely analyzed the conclusions and recommendations of the experts, discussing the ways of their implementation to ensure the most effective training of future and current judges and prosecutors. The dialogue allowed the identification of the best solutions in order to strengthen the role of the National Institute of Justice as a judicial training entity, in the context of obtaining the status of the Republic of Moldova as a candidate country for joining the European Union.

We note that, in July 2024, within the framework of the joint project of the European Union and the Council of Europe "Support for the reform of justice in the Republic of Moldova", a mission was held to evaluate the training processes at the National Institute of Justice in order to optimize judicial training and strengthen the training capacities of the Institute, in accordance with TAIEX 2022 recommendations.
