Advanced training for judges and prosecutors in cybercrime and electronic evidence

The National Institute of Justice is hosting, from September 9-12, 2024, the fall school "Investigation and examination of computer crimes. Administration and assessment of electronic evidence", intended for judges and prosecutors. The action is part of our country's efforts to implement the provisions of the Budapest Convention on cybercrime, to which the Republic of Moldova is a signatory.

During the four intensive days, participants will have the opportunity to significantly improve their knowledge and practical skills in the field of cybercrime under the guidance of Council of Europe experts: Hania El Helweh and Branko Stamencović.

The structure of the training program covers the essential aspects of cybercrime investigation and prosecution. Therefore, trainees will be trained in advanced cybercrime investigative techniques, including the collection and securing of electronic evidence and preparation for the judicial phase. A key component of the training activity will be the simulation of a full trial, which will include hearing, deliberation and decision-making by the court, thereby giving participants experience in handling cybercrime cases in the courtroom.

The event is organized by the National Institute of Justice and the Joint Project of the European Union and the Council of Europe CyberEast+, implemented in the Eastern Partnership region. The project focuses on improving the legislative framework and national policies in accordance with the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime and its Second Additional Protocol on enhanced cooperation and disclosure of electronic evidence.
