Discussions on strengthening the capacities of the National Institute of Justice within the EU-CoE project "Support for the reform of justice in the Republic of Moldova"

In the afternoon of Wednesday, April 16, 2025, the Director of the National Institute of Justice, Ramona Strugariu, and the head of the Training and Research Directorate, Ecaterina Popa, met with the Head of Unit within the Cooperation Programs Division of the Council of Europe, Mariana Chicu, and with the representatives of the joint EU-CoE project "Support for the reform of justice in the Republic of Moldova" - Natia Japaridze, manager of project, and Ghenadie Astrahan, senior project coordinator.

At the meeting, the activities that took place with the assistance of the project were mentioned. In particular, support was confirmed for the implementation of the recommendations of the TAIEX 2022 mission and the two reports on the initial and ongoing training processes of international consultants from the Council of Europe. It was found that some of the recommendations have already been implemented, while others could not be implemented because they are beyond the competences of the Institute.

The discussions also focused on the implementation of actions according to the identified needs. These include the development of institutional and communication strategies, the adaptation of HELP courses to the national context and their integration into the training program, the facilitation of the participation of INJ beneficiaries in international professional development sessions, the involvement of audiences in the AIAKOS Program, training in the field of European law and others.

The National Institute of Justice expresses its appreciation for the constant support offered by the Council of Europe in order to improve the quality of judicial training and align it with European standards in this segment.
