The Director of the National Institute of Justice had a meeting with the Head of the Council of Europe in Chisinau
Today, March 19, 2025, the Director of the National Institute of Justice, Ramona Strugariu, met with the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Chisinau, Falk Lange, and his team.
The main topics addressed concerned the Council of Europe projects in which the National Institute of Justice is a partner or beneficiary and which are included in CoE Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova. In particular, the programs carried out in priority areas were presented, such as anti-corruption, combating money laundering, asset recovery, the electoral field, migration and asylum, anti-discrimination and combating hate speech, etc. Special attention was paid to the support offered by the Council of Europe in the implementation of the TAIEX 2022 recommendations for the optimization of the process of both initial and continuous training within the National Institute of Justice, as well as new ideas for joint projects.
In her interventions, the Director of the INJ emphasized the importance of cooperation and the need to train the Institute's beneficiaries in accordance with the current requirements in the field of justice, their essential role for the entire judicial system, but also the importance of feedback from specialists in the system regarding the actions and trainings carried out by the INJ, the exchange of best practices with European experts or specific training needs. At the same time, you pointed out the usefulness of training for INJ staff to increase their level of professional competence. Another topic discussed referred to combining efforts in organizing national campaigns to prevent phenomena with a negative impact, such as corruption, or to improve the general framework for strengthening the independence and efficiency of justice, democracy, the rule of law.
In conclusion, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to the development of collaboration in order to improve the training process of the beneficiaries of the National Institute of Justice, an essential component of a modern and efficient judicial system.
