Republican fine arts competition "Through art we fight misinformation #AdevărDespreMigrație #TănaraGenerațieȘtie"

PARTICIPATING: Art schools, fine arts schools, creative circles, general education schools and grammar schools, centers of excellence and art colleges.

AGE CATEGORIES:

  1. 11 - 14 years.
  2. 15 - 18 years.

NOMINATIONS:

  1. COMPOSITION.
  2. DECORATIVE COMPOSITION.
  3. ARTISTIC TECHNIQUES.
  4. SCULPTURE/CERAMIC.

PURPOSE OF THE CONTEST:

  1. To develop critical thinking among young people by encouraging them to distinguish true from false information, including about refugees/migrants.
  2. To promote empathy and understanding towards the plight of refugees and migrants through the artistic exploration of their real stories.
  3. To cultivate civic spirit among the younger generation by raising awareness of the impact of misinformation on society and on public perception, politics and the human rights of migrants and refugees.
  4. To improve the abilities to understand art in ordinary conditions of exhibition of works.
  5. To identify and promote young talents.
  6. To stimulate students' interest in self-expression through artistic creation and to form creative skills in the younger generation.
  7. To develop the spirit of competitiveness and self-confidence of children.

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION:

Students from art schools, fine arts schools, creative circles, general education schools and gymnasiums, centers of excellence and art colleges between the ages of 11 and 18 can participate in the competition.

CONDITIONS FOR PERFORMING THE WORKS:

Entries must reflect a genuine understanding of the topic and convey a clear message against disinformation including the impact of disinformation on the human rights of migrants and refugees.  

PERFORMANCE TECHNIQUES:

Creative works can be made in various techniques (oil, watercolor, gouache, ink, pencil, pastel, mixed technique, batik, collage, tapestry, etc.) or in volumetric compositions (ceramics, sculpture, papier mache, wire, thread, etc.).

WORKS FORMAT:

A3 (297×420 mm), presented in passe-partout and mounted on cardboard (500×700 mm).

PARTICIPANTS:

The contest is intended for:

  1. Art schools, fine arts schools, creative circles.
  2. General education schools and gymnasiums.

COMPETITION STAGES:

  • Launching the contest and distributing the regulations to general and artistic education institutions: March 2025.
  • Information lesson at the "Alexei Șciusev" School of Fine Arts: March 2025.
  • Receipt of works in original during the period April 1-25, 2025.
  • Exhibition of works in the premises of the National Institute of Justice: April 29-30, 2025.
  • Judging of works at the National Institute of Justice on 12/13 May 2025.
  • Announcing the winners and handing out the prizes in the premises of the National Institute of Justice, at 28/29 May 2025.

The number of participants is unlimited. A participant can present only one work. Competitors who have passed the first stage of selection will receive an invitation in electronic form for further participation in the competition.

It is mandatory that the works be presented with the accompanying letter from the institution (Annex – registration form) that includes the list of works, the address and the telephone number of the participant and his teacher.

On the back of the work to be indicated:

  • Name, first name of author, institution.
  • The generic of the work.
  • Author's age (number of years completed) and date of birth.
  • The name, first name of the teacher.
  • Address and postal code, e-mail address (preferably the teacher's).
  • Phone number with city code.

Entries are not reviewed and, after the competition, are not returned.

The works are under the management of the National Institute of Justice and can be used without the author's consent in various activities.

FINAL STAGE:

Until April 25, 2025 - the participants present the original creative works, to the address: Republic of Moldova, or. Chisinau, Alexandru cel Bun str., 19, "A. Sciusev" Fine Arts School, Chisinau municipality. The participant's request will be attached to the paper (registration form). 

Reception of works: Monday - Friday: 09.00 – 17.00; GOAL. 067288019.

12/13 May 2025 - FINAL JUDGMENT. 

28/29 May 2025 - the announcement of the winners and the awarding of diplomas will take place in the premises of the National Institute of Justice, Chisinau, 1 Serghei Lazo str.

WORK EVALUATION CRITERIA:

  1. Completion of the work according to the theme / generic of the competition.
  2. The originality of the idea.
  3. Creative achievement.
  4. Application of artistic techniques.

COMPOSITION OF THE JURY:

Exhibitors of the Union of Plastic Artists from the Republic of Moldova, of the organizing institutions, teachers and representatives of relevant institutions, other guests.

All participants passed in the second stage of the competition will receive diplomas of participation.

Contest participants who pass the final stage will receive diplomas with mentions/prizes.
