The Ambassador of the French Republic to the Republic of Moldova, H.E. Dominique Waag, visiting the National Institute of Justice

The National Institute of Justice was visited, Monday, March 24, 2025, by the Ambassador of the French Republic to the Republic of Moldova, H.E. Dominique Waag, accompanied by the French liaison magistrate in Romania, the Republic of Moldova and Bulgaria, Simona Pavel. The discussions held with the Director of the INJ, Ramona Strugariu, focused on the prospects of bilateral cooperation in the context of judicial reforms and the European path of our country.

During the meeting, the dialogue focused on the need to strengthen the initial and continuous training of INJ beneficiaries, on adapting the programs to the demands of the community acquis, on issues related to the integrity of the judicial system and current legislative challenges, including those related to the digital space, but also on the identification of funding sources for joint projects. A relevant point of the meeting also referred to the component of expanding partnerships with judicial training schools, in particular with the National School of Magistracy in France.

"We need applied training, with an emphasis on European legislation and practices, so that future judges and prosecutors are prepared for the current challenges. French expertise is extremely valuable in this regard," said the Director of the Institute, Ramona Strugariu.

S.E. Dominique Waag expressed his openness to supporting the Institute, stating the following: "My main message is that we want to support you not only in institutional reform, but also in the way the magistrates of the Republic of Moldova are trained".

The meeting was also attended by Ecaterina Popa, head of the Training and Research Directorate, Olga Marandici, head of the International Relations Section, Ioana Chiurlea, assistant to the liaison magistrate, and Loujaine Ghannoucci, intern at the office of the French Liaison Magistrate.
