The OECD project to support the reform of the justice sector in the Republic of Moldova was launched

Today, July 16, 2024, the project "Supporting the Ministry of Justice and reform in the justice sector" was launched in the Republic of Moldova". Implemented by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), with the financial support of the European Union, it aims to strengthen the capacities of the key institutions involved in the justice reform process.

The event brought together national and international experts, development partners, representatives of the OECD and the authorities that constitute the target group of the project, including the National Institute of Justice.

In his intervention, the Interim Director of INJ, Adrian Cerbu, emphasized the role of the institution he leads in the training of professionals in the legal sector in the context of the start of negotiations for our country's accession to the European Union. His speech highlighted the commitment of the National Institute of Justice to advance in the delivery of quality training in essential areas for the rule of law and for the European aspirations of the Republic of Moldova.

In the afternoon, the first meeting of the Consultative Group of the project will take place. During the discussions, the proposed objectives and the initiation report detailing the measures taken to respond to the needs and expectations of the beneficiary institutions will be reported. At the same time, the technical aspects of implementation, intermediate achievements, work plans and the calendar of activities will be presented.

The OECD project aims to support the reform of the legal sector in the Republic of Moldova, through the comprehensive analysis of its justice system and the Ministry of Justice, by strengthening legislative and regulatory practices, by evaluating the justice sector strategy, as well as by strengthening the institutional capacities of the authorities in the target group.
